Privacy
This website measures how it is used. This page explains what that involves, why we do it, and where our knowledge stops.
Analytics on this site
This website uses Get Stoked Analytics. A small tracker script is loaded
on every page from get.stoked.tech. It is the only
analytics or measurement service on the site.
What the tracker records
When you open a page, the tracker sends a single pageview event to
get.stoked.tech. That event contains:
- The page address. The full address of the page you are viewing, including any query string.
- Your browser's user-agent string. The text your browser uses to identify itself, which typically names the browser and operating system and their versions.
- A visitor ID. A randomly generated identifier stored in your browser. Described below.
- The referring page, where your browser provides one. This is the page you followed a link from.
- Campaign and referral parameters, but only when they
are present in the address you arrive on:
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_term,utm_content, andreforreferrer_code.
That list is the complete contents of the event. The tracker also offers site owners a way to record conversion events. This website never calls it, so no conversion events are sent.
What is stored in your browser
This website does not set cookies. The tracker stores two values in your browser instead:
-
_stoked_vid, in local storage. A randomly generated visitor ID, created on your first visit and reused afterwards so that several visits from the same browser can be counted as one returning visitor rather than several new ones. It is not derived from your name, your email address or any account — this site has no accounts and asks for none. Your browser keeps it against this site only; other websites cannot read it. -
_stoked_ref, in session storage. Set only if you arrive with areforreferrer_codeparameter in the address. It lasts for the browsing session.
Clearing your browser's storage for this site removes the visitor ID. A new random one is generated on your next visit.
Why we collect it
We measure visitor engagement to understand whether this website is doing its job: whether people arriving here can find and understand what DaemonCore is, and which explanations they actually read.
The measurements are meant to inform improvements to the website rather than to optimise engagement for its own sake. We aim to collect only what is needed to do that.
What we do not do
- This website has no forms, no sign-up, no newsletter and no accounts, so it collects nothing you type. There is nothing to type into.
- There is no advertising on this site, and no advertising trackers.
- The tracker is the only script on the site that sends data anywhere.
Fonts
This site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those files directly from Google's servers when a page loads. We do not control what Google records about those requests.
What we cannot tell you yet
We would rather leave gaps visible than fill them with wording we cannot support:
- How long the data is kept. We do not have a published retention period for Get Stoked Analytics, so we are not stating one.
- What happens after the data arrives. As with any request to any web server, the analytics endpoint receives the network address your request came from. We do not have documentation describing how it is handled once received, so we are not describing it.
We intend to replace these gaps with specifics rather than leave them open indefinitely.
If you would rather not be counted
The tracker runs when a page loads. This site does not currently offer a
tracking preference control. Blocking get.stoked.tech — in
your browser's settings or with a content blocker — stops the tracker
loading, and the site works normally without it. Nothing on these pages
depends on it.
